Carrie Wallace grew up in Manchester, CT, avidly skiing on weekend trips to Vermont - made possible by hand-me-down gear and discounted lift tickets from a local ski club, the Central Connecticut Snow Snakes. Her main introduction to ski culture was through the movies her dad avidly collected. Growing up, Carrie was passionate about volunteering and community service, especially with underserved children.

After graduating from The George Washington University with a degree in Human Services & Social Justice, Carrie completed a Fulbright grant teaching English in a rural town in Northern Thailand. In 2016, she moved to the Gunnison Valley, having never visited before, with the intent to be a ski instructor for just one season. She spent 5 winters working as a ski instructor for CBMR, and especially enjoyed her time coaching local kids in Cruisers, Mountain Adventures, and Ski for PE. Carrie has served many roles in the Crested Butte community - from server to babysitter to KBUT DJ. In 2018, she found her dream job when she was hired at the Majestic, and served as the manager until its COVID related closure. From 2021 - 2022, Carrie served as the Center for the Arts' Performing Arts Manager, producing both indoor concerts and the summer series Alpenglow.

In 2020, Carrie and her partner Conrad formed a 501(c)3 nonprofit with the intention of fundraising to reopen the Majestic Theatre. Over the next two years, they led a grassroots fundraising campaign that raised $350,000 and the Majestic reopened its doors on September 23, 2022. Since then, Carrie has served as the Executive Director of the Majestic - now a nonprofit cinema with a focus on creating a community space that is affordable and accessible to all.

Carrie hopes to continue to provide local kids with access to experiences on snow that they wouldn't have otherwise! As someone who didn't grow up in a mountain town, Carrie recognizes the profound and positive effect winter sports have had on her life. She believes every kid in the Gunnison Valley should have access to winter sports, and is excited to work with CBSF to make that happen!
